Abstract
Integrated AC motors offer many desirable features, such as high compactness, reduced material cost, reduced engineering time for installation or integration and better protection against short circuiting and overvoltage due to dv/dt induced voltage reflection waves. This paper discusses the basic considerations of temperature sensitive component selection, device availability, design tradeoffs and reduction of the DC link capacitor which is the weakest component in the system. Preliminary experimental results are reported to verify the design concept. A brief technology outlook is given to prepare future challenges
