Abstract :
The authors outline the application of electric polypropylene film (PPF) to power capacitors in China and discuss in a non-chloride-impregnated PPF dielectric capacitor with folded aluminum-foil electrodes improvement of the ability to withstand harmonics, the reliability, the partial discharge property, and the loss tangent of the dielectric, all of which were assessed on the basis of the research results. It is shown that it is possible to increase working electric stress for the proposed all-film capacitor products by 20% over the present value without changing the present level of the power loss and PDIV/E or PDEV/E ratio, where PDIV is the partial discharge initial voltage and PDEV is the partial discharge extinction voltage
