  • Abstract
PMD generates random widening of the pulses in communications systems for standard single mode fibers. This randomness causes an inter-symbol interference problem in the signal detection. We propose a method to calculate the birefringence angle is traced by the axes of birefringence, by using a geometric tool important for engineering such as Mohr´s circle. This angle will allow addressing the problem of concatenation to standard single mode fibers of large length, about the signal behavior of the fiber.
