Abstract :
Propagation of Rayleigh wave in homogeneous elastic half-space with a surface-breaking vertical crack of finite depth is considered. Simple approximate approach is described. Explicit analytical expression for the transmission coefficient of plane Rayleigh wave is obtained. It is shown that the results of calculation agree well with the experimental data by Viktorov for sufficiently long (in comparison with the depth of a crack) Rayleigh wave.
