Abstract :
The dielectric properties and breakdown strength of oil-impregnated polypropylene laminated paper (PPLP), the compatibility between oil and PPLP, and accelerated life test on a miniature cable model are examined. Ways to improve the characteristics of PPLP have been suggested. Experiments show that the properties of impregnated PPLP with dodecyl benzene are superior to those of kraft paper, and that this material can be used in insulating ultrahigh-voltage cables. In comparison with the high-voltage cable kraft paper, the ε-tgδ of PPLP is only about 40% of that of kraft paper, while the AC and DC breakdown strength of PPLP is 15% and 30% higher than that of kraft paper, respectively
