Abstract
The author is concerned with the use of an absorption heat pump. Design considerations are discussed and staged operation is investigated. The results show the absorption heat pump to be a promising cycle and an attractive alternative to the more common vapor compression system, particularly for those applications where waste heat at two temperature levels is available, e.g. at a higher temperature from the power source and at a lower temperature from the payload. The heat from the former can be used to power the heat pump to boost the temperature of the latter
