Abstract
In this paper, an intelligent recognition system of phacoemulsification instrument is developed to solve some defects of current phacoemulsification cataract surgery, such as low automatic level of operation, over reliance on the ability of surgeons. The system, which utilizes pattern recognition technologies, can automatically analyze the video information of the operation process, track the emulsification probe, grade the hardness of lens nuclear and control the release of ultrasonic energy. This designed system has been tested with real microscope videos of phacoemulsification. Experimental results show that our system can largely reduce the complexity and difficulty of the cataract operation, and effectively raise the automatic level of phacoemulsification instruments.
