  • Abstract
    In this paper, the intersection of software engineering (SE) and human-computer interaction (HCI) education is explored through an examination of some current textbooks, papers and curriculum proposals. It is argued that HCI is not well integrated with SE lifecycle models; that interface design is often perceived as a small part of overall system design; and that in current computer science curricula, HCI is often viewed as an `add on´. There is a need for a more integrated approach, and for HCI issues to become SE issues. Recommendations for a cross-disciplinary approach to the teaching of these subjects in undergraduate courses in computer science are presented
