  • Abstract
Recently, many wind power generators are installed through the sponsorship of government in Korea. Jeju is the largest island in Korea with high wind energy potential. It has autonomous electric grid and its electrical load reaches over 600 MW. When the wind power possesses a significant portion of a power system, it can cause various problems. So, determining maximum penetration limit that guarantees the stability of the Jeju power system is important. In this paper, a calculation method that determines the maximum penetration limit of the small isolated power system is presented and coordinating operation procedure of wind farms, generators, and an HVDC is proposed. The suggested methods are applied to Jeju Island case.
