Abstract :
The investigation of hybrid optical transmission system (HOTS) [1] with 10 spectral channels of 400Gb/s in a single spectral channel is presented in this paper. Ten spectral channels based HOTS are considered in this work. Each spectral channel consists of 10 digital channels with the bit-rate of 40 Gb/s in a channel. Hence, the total transmission capacity of designed HOTS is 4 Tb/s. Based on determined spectral channel width; a frequency grid for designed system was adopted that is tolerant for chromatic dispersion. The optimal architecture shows via simulations that only 10 regenerators and optical filters are required in a regeneration section to implement such a system. That makes the proposed architecture 4x less resource intensive than a typical DWDM systems [2] with the same transmission capacity.
