Abstract :
This paper shows the application of ripple steering to a Class D audio power amplifier for the reduction of the switching ripple residual. Several topologies are presented for use in different applications. The ripple steering enhances the performance with respect to electromagnetic compatibility, allows reduced switching losses, and enables more accurate audio test and measurement. A method is presented to further linearize and extend the bandwidth of the Class D audio power amplifier which is made practical by switching ripple reduction.
