Abstract :
To meet the various demands for organ geometry modeling in biomedical simulation system, a general scheme is presented to create triangular/tetrahedral mesh from medical volume data. Three kinds of models with different resolution, quality and elements can be created by our scheme. The scheme consists of three parts - isosurface generation for high quality and accuracy, simplified mesh modeling for real-time simulation and Delaunay tetrahedral modeling for special interactive operations such as cutting, suturing and so on. Several improved approaches are proposed to overcome the difficulties in each part. Simulation results show the effectiveness of the proposed scheme.
