Abstract :
CT baggage scanning system is effective to detect the explosive and drug. In order to balance the system cost, scanning time and recognition capability, Dual Energy Single-slice Helical CT (DE-SHCT) has been widely adopted. The projection data is quite insufficient and hard to reconstruct well for material recognition with ordinary methods. In this paper we propose the ART+3DTV reconstruction method for DE-SHCT systems, which combines Dual Energy analysis, algebraic reconstruction technology (ART) and 3 dimensions total variation minimization (3DTV). The new method is applied on phantom consisting of objects of different materials, and real objects in baggage data scanned by a real DE-SHCT as well. The reconstruction quality is effective for object material recognition. All the above work has been applied to practical baggage inspection products in the moment.
