Abstract :
GIS (gas-insulated substation) field tests are recommended. For GIS of lower rated voltage (<245 kV), where mainly free-moving particles are dangerous, an AC voltage test including sensitive PD (partial discharge) measurement is shown to be efficient. The PD measurement can be replaced by an OLI (oscillating lightning impulse) test. For GIS of higher rated voltage (>245 kV), where fixed defects are mainly dangerous, an AC voltage conditioning and an OLI test are shown to be efficient
