Abstract :
In current practice of capture-gated technique, it is always assumed that capture only happens after the incoming neutron loses all of its kinetic energy. In this work, we show that this assumption may cause degradation of energy resolution that can be corrected with capture time using Geant4 simulation toolkit. We studied the relation between degradation of energy resolution and the capture time. In addition, pulse shape discrimination is discussed using simulation and experiments.
