Abstract :
Generally traffic jams are grown from single spots such as intersections which have key positions in urban transportation, then the small jams came into bigger ones, until the whole region was stopped up. In order to measure the extent of traffic jams, it´s necessary to define an index. Based on regression analysis on the data from 15 Intersections of 5 Beijing Districts, the Intersection Approach Road Congestion Index was proposed to replace the sampling method. It´s also operable when considering the allocation of time. What´s more, this index is completely original.
