Abstract :
Mobile ad-hoc network (MANET) technology is an essential piece in the path towards ubiquitous networking. In the past, most MANET research has been performed assuming the random waypoint mobility model for determining nodes movements. In the last years, some researchers have focused on alternative mobility models. In this paper, we perform a simulation based joint analysis of ad-hoc network performance at three layers (physical layer, network layer and transport layer) using four different mobility models, AODV as the routing protocol and TCP as the transport protocol. In some cases, we obtain counterintuitive results, which can be explained by correlating the behavior measured at the three considered layers
