Abstract
This paper presents the system and design of a retina stimulator with 232 electrodes in a 0.35mum HVCMOS technology. The requirements are outlined and the system architecture is explained. The stimulator provides more than plusmn15 V output swing, features full custom ESD protection at the electrodes and is fully testable. To prevent electrolysis through dc-currents, a new active charge balancer is implemented. Measurement results confirm the approach
