Abstract :
As a generalization to the problem treated by K. Kobayashi and A. Sawai (1992), the authors analyze the plane wave diffraction by a parallel-plate waveguide cavity with a planar termination of finite thickness using the Wiener-Hopf technique. Numerical results on the RCS (radar cross section) are presented and the scattering characteristics of the cavity are examined in detail. It is shown that, when the effect of interior irradiation is significant, polarization plays a very minor role in the high-frequency backscattering.<>
