Abstract
A new nonlinear control scheme suitable for dc/dc power boost converters is presented. As shown in the paper, the proposed controller is capable of regulating the converter output at the desired level independently from the kind of the load. It is proven that in both cases, i.e. of a pure resistance load and a resistance-inductance load, the controller preserves the passivity property which is a fundamental property of the open-loop system guaranteeing a satisfactory response. This is the main advantage of the proposed controller against other advanced standard techniques, such as the IDAPBC design which may fail in cases where resistance-inductance load appears. Simulation results that include comparisons with the IDA-PBC controller performance, demonstrate the superiority of the proposed approach.
