Abstract :
Transmit power control is an important issue in the WCDMA digital cellular system. This paper proposed a new, adaptive channel energy prediction (CEP) based power control algorithm for WCDMA system by which the future channel energy is predicted using MMSE criterion. The performance of power control algorithms that recommended by 3GPP and the proposed method are compared in different mobile speeds. It is shown from our simulations that the CEP-based power control strategy has looser Eb/N0 requirement and it helps to increase the uplink capacity and extend the cell coverage when compared with the 3GPP-based method in slow and medium mobile speeds.
