Abstract
FPGA based delta modulated single-phase matrix converter has been developed to perform the function of cyclo-converter. Xilinx 9.2i has been used to develop peripheral input-output and FPGA interfacing, to generate the delta modulated trigger pulses for the cyclo-converter. Implementation of the method of trigger pulse generation in FPGA using Hardware Description Language VHDL in Xilinx relieves the controller from the time consuming computational task of PWM signal generation. The trigger circuit is tested qualitatively by observing various waveforms on oscilloscope. The operation of proposed system has been found satisfactory.
