Abstract :
Saab-Sensis identified missed departures & arrivals at JFK using ASDE-X - 188 missed departures out of 30524 departures (-3+ per day) - 57 missed arrivals out of 31437 arrivals (-1 per day). Boeing quantified the effect of single missed departure events at JFK on traffic flow*: - Worst case was 162 total extra delay minutes, spread amongst 75 flights (-2.2 extra minutes delay per flight) . - 35% of the time a missed departure event affects only that flight. Similarly, for single missed arrival events at JFK*: - Worst case was 106 total extra delay minutes, spread amongst 77 flights (-1.6 extra minutes delay per flight) - 46% of the time a missed arrival event affects only that flight.
