Abstract :
Interference cancellation (IC) receivers can be used in CDMA cellular systems to improve the capacity. The IC receivers can be divided into two main categories, single-user detectors (SUD) and multiuser detectors (MUD). They have different characteristics in terms of intracell and intercell interference cancellation ratios. In this paper, we show that the multicell performance of our new combined serial IC and normalized Griffiths´ algorithm is 35-40% better than both the serial IC (a MUD receiver) and the normalized Griffiths´ algorithm (a SUD receiver). By combining a MUD and a SUD receiver, both the intracell interference and the intercell interference can efficiently be cancelled.
