Abstract :
JFK has highest average per flight taxi-out time savings from departure metering at 3.6 minutes, followed by LGA, EWR, ATL and ORD ATL has highest total yearly taxi-out time savings, over 190000 hours, because of high number of operations, followed by ORD then JFK, EWR and LGA Constrained airports such as PHL and BOS exhibit also significant benefits from departure metering Gate congestion increased by 5-6 aircraft at most airports, up to 14 aircraft at ATL Departure metering benefits can be achieved without negative impact on runway throughput.
