Abstract :
The PANDA Micro-Vertex-Detector (MVD) will be the innermost tracker of the PANDA experiment and it will aim for the reconstruction of decay vertices of short-lived particles. The final geometry of the detector foresees both silicon strip and pixel sensors. A full characterization of the vertex reconstruction performance was realized with the PANDA simulation framework. Both systematic scans along the acceptance and the reconstruction of particle decays were performed. Beam tests of prototype sensors and front-end chips took place at several accelerators. Two independent beam telescopes, one equipped with silicon strip sensors, the other with silicon pixels, were tested simultaneously. An offline combined analysis was performed showing the feasibility of an event building on data coming from the two different systems.
