Abstract :
One of the major applications of image processing is in vision systems which have recently flourished due to the rapid advancement in the related technologies such as the webcam and sensor technology. It was intended to construct an autonomous robot; of which the robotic vision has a critical role in the system. The robotic vision was constructed using a single wireless webcam to enable the captured images to be transmitted to a base station consisting of a PC installed with MatLab for image processing. An image processing unit based on edge detection technique was successfully developed for the vision system. It was able to give digital images of the analog image of object captured through the webcam. The successful development of this image processing unit triggered further work into area of object identification and pattern recognition for the robotic vision system.
