Abstract :
The authors calculate Poynting vector for a horizontal three-element Yagi-Uda antenna for both maximum gain and maximum F/B ratio in different conditions and give the result in the form of maps using arrows to represent the Poynting currents. The use of arrows makes it possible to give a view of the overall flows of the Poynting currents as well as the direction and size of the Poynting vector at a particular point; it is possible to show how radio waves are transmitted around the antenna and the distribution of their strength.<>
