  • Abstract
In RFID (radio frequency identification) system which uses mobile readers, the communication link between backend server and reader is not secure and stable. So Malicious readers have opportunities to enter system, then attack backend server and tag simultaneously. Therefore, it´s necessary to implement secure and effective reader identification mechanism in RFID system. This paper proposes an efficient authentication protocol for low-cost RFID system in the presence of malicious readers (denoted as EAPMR). The security and efficiency analysis result shows, EAPMR can resist many attacks initiated by malicious readers, such as message interception, message modification, tag tracking, replay and desynchronization, etc., with low computing and processing cost. Under the protection of EAPMR, malicious readers can not threaten the normal operation of the two-way authentication between backend server and tag.
