Abstract
A model for the excitation of a cylindrical antenna is developed which is mathematically rigorous and at the same time relatively easy to implement experimentally. Based on this model, current distribution on the antenna and the aperture electric field in the slot can be rigorously determined. Although there is no experimental verification of the analytical results, it is foreseen that realization of this excitation model can be achieved.<>
