Abstract
A method is proposed for analyzing a self-exciting resonant DC-DC converter that gives the theoretical oscillation condition under which the converter can work. This condition was determined by theoretically analyzing the energy transmission between the main-resonant circuit and the resonant gate-driving circuit. Maintaining oscillation requires that the energy supplied by the main-resonant circuit is larger than the conduction power loss caused by the parasitic gate resistance. The analysis also showed that the oscillation area depends on the feedback and gate capacitances. The analytical results agreed with the experimental ones
