Abstract :
Computer interfaces that support more natural human forms of communication (e.g., ink, speech and gestures) are beginning to supplement or replace elements of the GUI interaction paradigm. Pen-based interface is one of the natural interfaces. It is a very natural manner for pens to draw strokes (ink) or manipulate objects directly on the screen. Many pen-based devices such as PDAs, Tablet PCs and Whiteboards are equipped with electronic pens, which possess both physical properties of real pens and digital characteristics of being as electronic pens. This talk is to provide participants with a basic understanding of the author´s work in relation to pen-based interaction techniques. Two examples of our studies on designing the pen-based user interface for Tablet PC and PDA applications are mentioned.
