Abstract
This paper discusses one of the possible application area of semantic Web technology. This application area is teaching, learning and training aided by shared knowledge bases (SKBs). As a basis needs of education efficiency and flexibility increase are given. As a vision to be solved two real-world use cases are given that include problem solving, learning and knowledge sharing. Some selected current e-learning solutions and e-learning projects are reviewed to give the basis for further thoughts. Finally some implications on technology, on individual user and organization, that were generated by these application scenarios, are discussed.
