Abstract :
Modern communication systems need equalizers for reliable communication in noisy and non-linear channels. A properly designed equalizer can overcome the effects of inter-symbol interference which deters the communication process in noisy and bandlimited channels. In this paper a functional link ANN (FLANN) based equalizer has been discussed. The equalizer structure has been created using a filterbank sign regressor FLANN approach. The performance of this equalizer has been compared with the conventional FIR filter based and general FLANN based equalizers. The simulation results show that the proposed equalizer outperforms the other equalizers which are considered for comparison in the study.
