Abstract :
The authors describe the calculation and measurement of the radar cross section (RCS) of perfectly conducting open structures such as right circular cylinders with aperture and slots, and rectangular waveguides with one end open. The calculations are made using a moment-method solution of the electric-field integral equation. Measurements are made on metallic models in the 2-18 GHz range. Good agreement is shown between the measurements and the calculations. Effects of the openings, wall thickness of the structures, and finite conductivity on the comparison are discussed.<>
