Abstract
All-optical NOT, OR, AND, NAND, and XOR logic gates are proposed using a planar optical diffraction grating fabricated in a glass substrate by the double ion exchange technique. which previously introduced (J. phys. D :Appl. phys. vol. 23, p.1298-1301, 1990, printed in the Uk). The main idea in this proposal is rather simple. When two coherent light pulses meet, they produce constructive interference (CI) when they are in phase, and destructive interference (DI) when they have a phase difference of 180 degrees. The optical grating switching efficiency, switching time, insertion loss, and crosstalk is reported.
