Abstract
The propagation characteristics in multilayered dielectric periodic structures are analyzed. The analysis extends that of R. L. Lewis and A. Hessel (1971) by introducing an additional dielectric layer. It is applied to propagation modes along the longitudinal and transverse directions of the structure´s periodicity. The use of Floquet´s theorem reduces the analysis to a single cell of the propagating fields for both TE and TM polarizations. Special attention is given to the effect of varying the thickness of the dielectric layers.<>
