Abstract :
In order to support explanations in a knowledge-based system, a method is proposed to extend an existing knowledge base: adding more knowledge and including relations and their semantics among the different types of knowledge. The criterion followed to organize a knowledge base is to classify and represent knowledge according to different levels of application and abstraction. This criterion also facilitates future extension of a knowledge base for explanations of the procedure and heuristic knowledge
