Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to describe the design of a new generation EMI receiver system. The paper covers the performance parameters that are required of a receiver system that is to be utilized in the process of EMI testing. The paper discusses in depth the limitations of digital signal processing techniques, and how they are utilized within the receiver system itself. Parallel signal information processing techniques are covered, showing the means by which this technique can be used to expand the coverage of the receiver past the digital processing limitations, while maintaining many of the advantages. The paper concludes with a discussion showing that the performance of the receiver system meets the requirements for the collection of valid data, while providing the means to obtain this data in very short periods of time
