Abstract
Nowadays, it is clear the pressure from all the actors and industry on the energy preservation and efficiency. It is a must have, in any system, even at specification time, a clear vision on the energy consumption horizon of each part of the system. In this work, some of the vectors for analysis of current access networks are brought up and observed as means to help setting a fair and consolidated rating of each of technology, which should account both with sustainability of the system for its life time as well as benefit the most durable and appropriate solutions for each specific scenario. These considerations may also bring an added requirement for the coming standards, standardization bodies and mechanisms, being these also addressed briefly in this work.
