Title :
The influence of internationalisation on the national systems of engineering education
Abstract :
The schools of engineering in Europe find themselves in a new form of touch with each other leading to co-operation, convergence, and competition. Co-operation refers to the need to develop a common system of describing qualification profiles of engineers, precondition for the common development of study programmes based on joint curricula. Convergence refers to the growing adaptation of English as the language of engineering instruction, and to harmonisation of the educational structures and conditions, possibly “Anglo-Americanisation”. Competition refers to the struggle for motivated and qualified students and scientists in view of a decreased interest of the youth in science and engineering
