Abstract
This paper presents a novel method of applying dither to a first order digital delta sigma modulator (DDSM) in order to obtain maximized sequence length for any input value and any initial condition. The effect of applying dither at various stages of a multi-stage noise-shaping network (MASH) is also investigated. The performance of the proposed DDSM is compared with existing structures. The performance is confirmed mathematically, and by simulation.
