Abstract
This paper considers an analytical model of a cell supporting half rate (HR, H-) and full rate (FR, F-) speech codecs. The dynamic channel allocation scheme that takes into account the signal strength of incoming calls is presented. The number of concurrent F-connections is limited by a threshold value. Full repacking scheme is considered for partially allocated channels. Formulae for performance characteristics e.g. blocking probabilities are derived. An approximated model, based on the state space reduction, is used to obtain numerical results.
