Abstract :
A method to enlarge the range and improve the sensitivity of electret radiation dosimeters (ERD) is discussed. A grid mesh near the sample surface has been introduced between the front electrode and the electret sample. The polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) sample is negatively corona charged in the range 160-170°C. The surface voltage of the foil is -1000 V. A radiation dose of several tens of R is measured with an ERDG (electret radiation dosimeter with grid-control). The radiation charge is also measured, and the expected surface potential is obtained
