Abstract :
The telecom industry has evolved tremendously over the years and has become very dynamic with fast-paced innovations and multi-faceted competition. Service providers need to closely track the trends in their industry so they can position themselves competitively for the future. This paper presents the trends that are emerging in the telecom industry and will highlight disruption potential on the current mode of operation of service providers. The paper will also discuss the right course of action that should be followed by service providers to turn these trends into opportunities. This involves a transformation in both the service providers´ physical network and their traditional mode of operation.
