Abstract :
Motivated by the challenge of how to design but not over-design, the probabilistic design is the process of accurately accounting for and mitigating the effects of variation in part geometry and other environmental conditions while at the same time optimizing a target performance factor. Using classical mathematical methods, probabilistic design can be a very difficult and complex task. A novel concept of probabilistic design for soft real-time systems and a simulation methodology to optimize the design are proposed to bridge the gap between real-time analysis and optimization for robust and reliable system design.
