Abstract
The fractals in the nature possess the characteristics of statistically self-similar or multifractal. This paper introduces gives the principles of the multifractal interpolation surface. The methods of dividing local interpolation neighborhood and determining multiple vertical compression ratios are described. A practical MATLAB program for the multifractal interpolation surface is presented and the main parameters in the program are explained. Based on the measured data, the practical case is studied. By comparison, multifractal interpolation surface is more consistent with the actual fault surface than the self-affine fractal interpolation surface.
