Abstract :
The use of tin plating versus silver plating and the use of silver alloys on electrical equipment in the paper industry are addressed. The advantages and disadvantages of tin and silver are reviewed. The evolution from silver to tin plating in one paper mill is discussed, the results are reviewed. Examples are cited of failures in the mill where silver was used for electrical contacts and where silver alloys were used for joining electrical components into assemblies
