Abstract
The detection of convolutional codes over rings suitable for continuous phase modulation (CPM) are presented based on the Rimoldi´s Decomposition of CPM. Because the ring convolutional codes are on the same ring as the inner codes of CPM, We can use reduced state sequence detection (RSSD) to analyze and detect the overall encoder. Numerical result shows the detection complexity of this RSSD is significantly reduced with a very small degradation in error performance.
