Abstract :
Turbo codes are widely investigated due to its excellent error control ability since it was proposed and applied in the late 20 th century. But decoding algorithms for Turbo codes were complex, so there is large time delay in iteration processing course in order to obtain the excellent error control properties of turbo codes. This paper proposes an improved adaptive decoding algorithm through deeply study of turbo codes principle and decoding technology. Based on the novel termination estimation strategy of the new algorithm, the average number for turbo decoding was decreased, while the BER performance obtained was not degraded. The excellent performance of improved decoding algorithm is proved by computer simulation and comparison analysis of experimental results.
